Powercor Country Festival 2018 Essendon V Geelong

Round 9 – Saturday May 19 Essendon v Geelong at the MCG with the match starting at 4:35pm

The Country Game is the brainchild of Kevin Sheedy and is an annual blockbuster game played between the Essendon and Geelong Football Clubs.

The aim is to celebrate and acknowledge the contribution of regional communities to the game of AFL and to Australian society.

The Powercor Country Festival is an opportunity to bring the country to the city and showcase a range of Farmers’ Market stalls, country entertainment and activations. This will include sheep shearing, whip cracking, animal farm, trucks and tractors for kids to climb on, a Ute muster, country music and other fun activations.

Critical to the success of the event is the Farmers’ Market and we have seen considerable growth from 2016 with 9 stalls to 16 stalls in 2017 and in 2018 we had 50 stalls on the day.

The impact to many of these small producers is the opportunity to showcase their produce on a large scale to a fantastic cross-section of the population.

Remembering that many of them it is their first time showcasing their range. The Food Purveyor is a critical partner to the success of the event.
